IBI is currently seeking an experienced Director, Research to provide guidance and operational execution of the organization’s research agenda and data analytics initiatives.


Founded in 1995, the Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI) is a national member association focused on employee health, wellbeing, and productivity. Business leaders, HR professionals, and consultants from multiple industries join the IBI community to access independent research, analytics tools, and educational/networking opportunities to be able to strategically invest in the health of their workforce and maximize productivity and performance of their businesses.

Position Overview

This role is essential to upholding the organization as the leader in unbiased health and productivity research and should have a strong grasp on emerging needs of those in the healthcare, insurance, absence management, and benefits industries. The ideal candidate will be an experienced qualitative and quantitative researcher and have a proven track record for data management, collaboration, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

•  Develop overall health and productivity research and educational agenda in collaboration with Executives representing insurance plans and products, absence management, benefits consulting, healthcare, and employer stakeholders to deliver superior value to IBI members

• Develop relationships with industry leaders to engage innovators to collaborate on research projects that are important and impactful in the market

• Lead research teams and play a direct role in several phases of research projects on the productivity and economic impacts of workforce health, wellness, illnesses, and injuries, including systematic literature reviews, structured interviews, development of research questions and hypotheses, survey design and administration, data collection and processing, multivariate model estimation, analysis of results and drafting research manuscripts

• Coordinate the collection and synthesis of employer guidance from subject matter experts and translate IBI’s research products into actionable insights for the market

• Solicit research funding and manage budgets, deliverables, and milestones

• Present research findings to scientific, professional and employer audiences and conduct educational webinars for employers, payers, and other key stakeholders

• Train and manage a team of researchers (including staff with Ph.D. and MPH credentials) in health and productivity issues, research methods, analysis, and communications of findings for both scientific and non-technical audiences

• Provide support for statistical modeling and analyses, including quantitative (hypothesis testing, logistic, linear regression, and knowledge of parametric and non-parametric methods, structural equation modeling), and qualitative (content and thematic analysis)

Skills & Qualifications

•  Graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in statistics or in a behavioral, health or social science with an emphasis on quantitative reasoning

•  Successful track record of leading and managing productive research teams, budget, and timelines, and grant funding application

•  Demonstrated ability to build relationships across functions and industries

•  7+ years of working with research in health, pharmacy, behavioral, absence, disability or population health management

Extensive analytic experience using Excel and data management/reporting with SPSS, Stata, NVivo or another statistical analysis packages

•  Excellent writing and communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate research findings into clear thoughts, impact, and actions

•  Familiar with database/programming applications such as Python, SQL or Hadoop (desirable, but not required)

Salary Range

$100,000-125,000 USD
