In early April 2020, IBI published a model that estimated short-term disability and sick leave incidences and costs based on low-range, mid-range, and high- range projections of COVID-19 cases. This map applies that model to confirmed COVID-19 cases to date across metropolitan areas in the country to allow interested parties to account for geographic variation in COVID-19 cases, employment patterns, industry mix, and wages.
All findings should be considered approximate and contingent. For more information about sources and assumptions used in the model, view the map below and click on the fourth tab called “Background and Sources.”
If you would like to discuss these issues with your peers, IBIBridge, an online community for employers to connect and share insights and perspectives on health and productivity issues, is currently focusing on the evolving changes and challenges COVID-19 brings forth.
