IBI is the nonprofit behind the workforce-health research and benchmarks that employers, insurance carriers and benefits consultants use to see what good actually looks like.
Independent research, a peer network, and the tools to use both.
Your own claims data tells you what happened inside your company. It cannot tell you whether that is normal. IBI pools more than 8 million leave and disability claims from employers across the country, so you can put your absence rates, claim durations and costs side by side with workforces built like yours. No single vendor sees enough of the market to show you that.
Benefits leaders bring their real numbers to IBI events, not just their talking points. You can ask the person who already ran the pilot you are weighing up what it cost, what broke, and what they would do differently. IBI's researchers are in the same room to show you what the wider data says.
Put a number on a decision before you take it to finance. Members get IBI's benchmarking tables, the Early Disease ROI Calculator, the Medication Adherence Savings Calculator and the leave benchmarking infographics, so you can model the change yourself instead of commissioning a study.
Your own numbers show what happened inside your company. Membership shows you whether that is normal. Employer members get the benchmarking tables, the members-only research library and the calculators, so the case you take to leadership rests on data from outside your own company.

IBI is independent. Not a vendor, not a lobbyist. That is why the numbers carry weight when you put them in front of finance.

The Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI) is a nonprofit research organization that studies workforce health, absence, disability and leave for US employers. IBI publishes independent research and maintains a benchmarking database that employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators and benefits consultants use to compare their own programs against the wider market. IBI also runs an Annual Health & Productivity Forum, now in its 28th year, and a series of one-day regional seminars.
IBI has two member types: employers and suppliers. Employers join to benchmark their benefits, leave and disability programs against data from outside their own company. Suppliers, which includes insurance carriers, third-party administrators, brokers, consultants and health solution providers, join to understand the employer market and to support their own work with independent numbers. If you buy, manage or advise on benefits, leave, disability or workforce health programs, IBI membership is built for you.
IBI is an independent nonprofit research organization, not a vendor and not a lobbyist. Its research agenda is built around the questions employers are already facing, and employer members can join the research committees that decide what gets studied. Much of IBI's research is published publicly at no cost, so you can read the work and judge the method before you join.
IBI's benchmarking database holds more than 8 million de-identified leave and disability claims covering short-term disability, long-term disability, FMLA and workers' compensation. More than 100,000 companies contribute data to it. Claims are de-identified before analysis, so no individual employee or claimant is identifiable in any IBI benchmark or report.
Yes, IBI offers a demo of the member tools before you apply. An IBI team member will walk you through the benchmarking portal, the calculators and the members-only research library. Book a demo to set one up. A large share of IBI's research is also published publicly at no cost, so you can read the work before you talk to anyone.
IBI runs one national conference and a series of one-day regional seminars. The 28th Annual Health & Productivity Forum takes place in Austin, Texas from September 30 to October 2, 2026. Regional seminars run in Detroit, Michigan on September 9, 2026 and Portland, Maine on September 17, 2026.
